Amanda Bossard, fresh out from Anchorage High School in 1992 started studying marine biology in 1992. Bossard started her profession as a commercial seafood worker in 1999. She began to work at the vessel F/V Sunset an a65' halibut-schooner which was converted into a tender for salmon in the name of Murat Aritan, who was employed in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999, and the two have joined in fighting for their company. They support conservative, profitable management of sustainable seafood resources. Otolith was established at the time of Philadelphia by Bella Bossard, now mom to two boys with ages of 3 and 1 Bossard. She and her husband are separated by five months, and she is able to be focused on her financial goals and her environmental goals. Bossard's children Isabella aged 12 and son Andre 10 come back each year for a visit to Southeast Alaska to work in the position of deckhand during wild salmon season. in a tiny 42 salmon trolling vessel using hooks and lines to catch their targeted salmon, they join Aritan to work for the duration of two months selling to local processors. They also continue to increase their direct market seafood items sold via Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way of purchasing the custom processing capabilities of small processors who create distinctive wild-caught seafood that reflects their commitment to quality and the environment.
